Simonida was born in 1965 in Skopje, North Macedonia.
She has been professional artist all her life. Right after graduation from National Art Academy in her
native Republic of Macedonia (than Yugoslavia) her work was featured at the National
Art Gallery as she was recognized as one of the leading artist in the country. Her thirty
years career was marked by numerous solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Asia and
U.S.A. Mrs. Filipova Kitanovska was awarded in many occasions for her artistic
excellence.
In 1991-1997 she lived in U.S.A. and exhibited at Boston and Agora Gallery in Soho,
New York City. As a painter and visual artist she expressed herself in different media –
oil, acrylic, installation, combined techniques and video. However, last seven years her
work is almost exclusively dedicated to exploration of watercolor. Her very first
watercolor paintings early on in her career earned her a special prize at prestigious
national competition. Years later she found that this technique that is fast drying, often
full with unpredictability yet precise and unmerciful to mistakes or corrections, match her
own character, explosive expression and gesture, drawing using color and unquenched
thirst for realizing ideas to the inviting white surface instantly.
Simonidas paintings are a part of private collections in countries all over the world.
